After graduating with a degree in plant sciences from the University of Edinburgh, Beth studied professional writing and editing in Melbourne before joining the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew as a project editor. She has a wide range of academic, government and commercial editing and publishing experience, and before going freelance specialised in illustrated non-fiction books, with a particular focus on natural history.

She plays viola for the Wandsworth Symphony Orchestra (in London), loves reading recipe books and likes to start, and sometimes complete, creative projects.
